Melissa Guerra Tienda de Cocina

I know most of us probably still have the after-Christmas shopping blues but it never hurts to look, right? I won't be doing any real shopping anytime soon but I thought I'd share this new to me kitchen resource.

Melissa Guerra's Tienda de Cocina is based out of San Antonio, TX. The next time I pass through I'm going to make sure I stop by, as I'm sure the store has a much bigger and better selection than the online offerings. But don't get me wrong, there's plenty in the online store to drool over.

My current favorite is the line of Pomaireware they carry, handcrafted by artisans in Chile. I hinted to Hank to get me a set of these bowls for Christmas, and he delivered! I love them, they look primitive yet modern at the same time and have a wonderful earthy quality to them. And they smell of clay- the perfect vessel for a serving of frijoles or warming caldo.

Visit Melissa's store here.

Toaster Central

I just love vintage toasters, the designs are so streamlined and stylish. The models above have all been lovingly restored by Toaster Central. Be sure to check out their site for info on repair, value, and to drool over their amazing selection. Toaster Central has a number of other small vintage appliances and offers a repair service as well.

And because I can't get enough here are a few deco models and a neat single slice popup toaster, all in working condition from various sellers on Etsy.

Tortilla Warmers

I found these great tortilla warmers last night that I had to share. I love the fact that they are ceramic so you can warm them in the oven and pile fresh tortillas inside, the heat retention from the dish keeps them warm while you eat! The glazes are really nice too, made by artists in Carlsbad, NM and others are made in McQueeny, TX. Check them out here.

Red Onion Woodworks

I've known about Red Onion Woodworks for a while now, I don't know what's taken me so long to post about them. They make gorgeous wood cutting boards and serving trays. Each piece is unique and drool-worthy.

From their Etsy site: "Bigleaf maple (Acer macrophyllum) grows abundantly up and down the West Coast of the United States, but only the rare tree shows the fiddleback, quilted, or burled figure that I use when making my cutting boards and serving trays. Each piece I make is absolutely unique. In fact, my favorite part is putting finish on a board and seeing the natural figure of the wood being revealed."

Visit Red Onion Woodworks on Etsy to see what they currently have up for sale.

Lula B's West

Hank and I spotted these metal cactus sculptures at Lula B's West a few weeks ago. I love that they will eventually age and rust if left in the elements, very cool for a patio or garden.
